My back hatch has started to rattle something awful when driving down the road. I see there are two rubber stops. Do these wear out? I'm assuming so just like most rubber bushings. Also, what about the latch itself? Anyone had trouble with theirs? To the point the hatch rattles? I'll take any suggestions.

Yea, the spray, the ointment, even pills, and I still have hatch rattle. See how deep the groove is, from where the latch hit's the pin. You can turn the pin 180* to present a fresh side. Also that pin is adjustable. You can loosen the torx there and tap it in, (L&R also). New gasket, changed stoppers, changed pin's, even changed the mechanism at some point. Might be better or I just got use to it. 13 years of washboard has caused the rear 1/2 of my Jeep to start crumbling. Cracks outside of the hatch hinges, and even top rear of the passengers door-frame. Parked right, my hatch will hit the tale-light. (no wonder the ointment didn't work)

the rear hatch panel is the inside or interior of the rear hatch itself. It is held on by a few screws, once removed you can access the inner workings of the hatch door itself. That is how you would access the rear locking mechanism and rear wiper assembly.
Anyways, some times small fragments come loose from the manufacturer inside the door the older the vehicle gets. Also, a previous owner may have been in there and broken something in there.
Just an Idea!
