Default Back hatch

Hello, I have a 97 XJ sport, I really have to slam my back hatch to get it securely closed. Is this normal? If not, what could I do to fix it? When I don't shut it really hard, there is an annoying rattle every time I hit a bump. All help will be appreciated

Get some lubricating spray ( I used pb blaster) and spray it on the locking parts in the hatch. Should help, fixed my problem. But careful pb blaster will stain stuff real easy

If a spray lubricant doesn't work try loosening the two torx head bolts (on the lower mount) and adjust it aft (back) a little and see if it latches better.
