back and forth with steering wheel?

Default back and forth with steering wheel?

When im driving down the road even with cruise on i always seem to be back and forth with the steering wheel. like side to side. and when i hit bumps its worse. i just want to hold the steering wheel with very little movement. its almost as if i were driving drunk or something. lol. i dont know what would do this. by the way its lifted 4.5" if it makes a difference. can i get some help please

have you checked your pitman arm?

mine does the same thing... there's a laundry list of things I suspect... ball joints, tie rod ends, upper control arm bushings, caster, maybe even my steering box? lol. I'm curious to see what responses you get.

I had the same issue with my 89. Ended up being a few different things and each made a small improvement.

2 TRE's
Upper mount on track bar
steering box needed adjusted

I still have the smallest bit of "wandering" in the front end, waiting on the lower bushing for the RE track bar right now.

Each made an improvement, and the total feel is much better. I don't look like a drunk cruising down the road any more.

for me it was that EVIL track bar upper bushing, any bump, and things got uncomfortable... almost hit a guardrail on the highway on the way to the shop... not fun (I HATE WIND)

well i just got a prothane total bushing kit and it has the track arm and upper control arm bushings included so i will get those installed and i had already planned on getting ball joints and TRE's. i will let you guys know whats up after i do these things

yeah, i definitely have this problem too.

the prothane kit sounds like a good idea. every bushing i've looked at so far is old and cracking.
