My 99 XJ has developed a front end noise which is only heard at very slow speeds while turning. I'm guessing that it's the axle-shaft u-joint(s). I have previously replaced both wheel hubs. The noise is difficult to describe other than it sounds like a "binding". Would I be correct in my guess that the u-joint is the problem. It sounds like it's coming from the driver's side. Going straight, there is no noise....

I have on order some 5-760x Spicer u-joints and I'm waiting for them to arrive and I'm not sure they'll arrive in time for me to replace before a 500 mile round trip I must make. Should I push the panic button if they don't arrive in time?

I wouldnt worry too much, especially if youre gonna be in 2wd the whole time. My 97 was about 2x as bad as this video and I drove it all winter because I didnt want to change them in the cold.

 

Thanks, I feel a bit better. I'm really **** when it comes to my XJ running right and the possibility of a vehicle breakdown really sends me over the edge. I'll sleep better knowing that I should be ok.....
