it is the smaller axle of the 3 offered in the jeep the 8.25 is a good unit for mild built rigs and they are super cheap to get and bolt right in

All depends on what size tires you have and how much wheeling you plan on doing...Tj

a stock d35 is considered a week axle
but depending what type of 4x4 you do
trails and mild its fine
but if you are a throttle jockey and rock crawler it will most likely brake

yeah... I'm thinking a 4.5 inch lift... MAYBE 6.... But first I wanna make everything right so it wont break.. I'm probably just gonna save and go with the 6 inch lift...I'll want a beefier unit... I wanna turn my jeep into the ultiamte mud queen though... I am so new to this whole thing I should really read up on it...

Looks just like mine and is a 35 (most common XJ rear axle). Fine for wheeling until you get into extreme wheeling or are pushing big tires. Most of us can get by on a D35 but there are those that will tell you to get rid of it right away- it is called the turdy 5 for a reason.
I say wheel it until it breaks, then you have a nice excuse for an upgrade. I wouldn't put any money into it though... Granted I am not a member of the hardcore wheelers club and just do some trails. :-)
