Default Axle Swap from 95 to 89?

A buddy of mine wants to buy an 89 XJ as long as the rear axle from his 95 will bolt right under the 89. He wants to swap axles because his 95 has a locker already installed.
Thanks

sure will. he'll need new u-bolts tho.

and of course, check the gear ratio.

if it's a different axle (8.25) then he may need the drive shaft also, if they're both either auto or stick.

Your friend has a locked D35? He will definitely want to keep that other rear end for spare parts

That won't be much help considering he 89 D35 is a non c-clip axle and the 95 D35 is c-clip. He would be better off locking the 89 axle vs swapping in the 95. At least that when the axle does break the shaft won't slide out of the tube.

Best bet would be a 29 spline Chrysler 8.25 out of a 97+ XJ.
