Hey guys, I'm planning on running 37" tires. From my understanding, the lowest gear for a 8.25 is a 4.88 from a relatively new/ unknown company called Nitro Gear. Stock tore size is a 225/75/16 with around a 3.55 stock gear. Will 4.88's be enough? Or am I better off going to a D44 or 60 for even lower gears. And yes I know I need to upgrade the shafts as well.

Id go with a 8.8 from a explorer...... They are much easier to find and cheap plus you get disk brakes (96 up) and plenty of aftermarket parts.
If you went full width with a D60 you would double your work because youd need a matching front width diff also.

Motive Gear . ... The company is now offering 3.90, 4.30, 4.88, 5.14, 5.71 and 6.14:1 ratios. for the 8.8's

This is for a 07 liberty recieving a 44 or 60 solid front axel. My stock 8.25 is disc brake.

nitro gear is good

but

i would not run 37's on an 8.25 anyway.

build up some stronger axles

5.38's are pretty ideal with 37's

So 5.38's in 60's with alloy shafts should handle 37's and a 5.9 relatively well?
