AXEL QUESTION

Im tryin to figure out what axel I have in the rear I got an 87 Cherokee Cheif 4dr4.0 I6 4wdThe Front axel says Dana 30 but the Rear jus says Dana.It does have the number 350 stamed on it If that helps can anyone tell me about that axel ?

its a ok axle when you dont put larger tires on the rig. wheeling its a terrible axle

I have had 5 Jeeps, all were wheeled hard, 4 of them had D35s. I never broke any of my D35's. I have seen more built D44s and D60s break on the trails than D35s. It's more about how your rig is built and how you wheel it. You give me any axle made I can break it for you in 10 minutes, that doesn't mean the axle was weak.

Jeep used it in Wranglers and and both the ZJ and XJ, for almost 30 years. It's not that bad. If you are going to be running a locker and tires bigger than 33" and doing nothing but hard core rock krawling, you should up grade it. If you rig is a DD that you wheel and you keep the tires under 33", Its a Good axle.
