Really! dana44 or a 8.25 29 spline. the d44 came in 87 with a tow package. i think the 8.25 29 spline started in 99? could be wrong with the year though

Jeep used it in Wranglers and and both the ZJ and XJ, for almost 30 years. It's not that bad. If you are going to be running a locker and tires bigger than 33" and doing nothing but hard core rock krawling, you should up grade it. If you rig is a DD that you wheel and you keep the tires under 33", Its a Good axle.
I have had 5 Jeeps, all were wheeled hard, 4 of them had D35s. I never broke any of my D35's. I have seen more built D44s and D60s break on the trails than D35s. It's more about how your rig is built and how you wheel it. You give me any axle made I can break it for you in 10 minutes, that doesn't mean the axle was weak.

I have seen numerous d35's running 30's and 31's with no locker chipping ring gear teeth and twisting splines. no way would I run a 33 on a d35 and expect it to last.

your last comment is a joke right?
