Default Axel LSD? or Open?

I plan on doing my diff fluid change and after doing some research I found that you should add a friction fluid to your diff if you have a LSD.

I have a D35 and noticed on dirt roads both tires spin, but on wet cement only one.

Question is how can I tell if it is a LSD or not?

Besides obviously cracking the diff open.

Also does anybody know if their is a VIN website out their for Jeeps were you can enter your VIN and pull your window sticker?

I know for my Ford Explorer their is a site.

Thanks guys!

I know that when my Dad had a LSD in his truck that if you jacked the truck up and moved the tires with your hands both tires would move in the same direction. But if he hammered it really hard on the road occasionlly one would spin more than the other. thats why its a LSD

Ok after a little searching I found that.

Jack up the rear put in neutral and roll a tire.

If both tires move same direction it is LSD, if the tires move opposite it is open.

Adding the... Additive... To an open diff won't hurt it. I put it in mine when I changed the fluid, and I'm pretty sure it's open, but I never actually checked.

U only need the additive if the lsd is noisy/chatters in a tight turn....if it doesn't, don't add it.
