Default Ax15 first gear only issue

so about 3-4 months ago i had to replace my clutch and all those other happy parts so every thing inside the bell-housing is new and so is the slave cylinder.

now my problem is first gear after the clutch was replaced it worked flawlessly.
Than after a few weeks (3-4) it would just pop out of first when sitting at a stop, with clutch depressed. Well now i cant even get into first with out having the jeep rolling over 10mph and then its a fight of strength like something is blocking it. sitting still from dead stop it just grids away.
All other gears work fine no issues what so ever.

thanks for the time and eventual help

sounds to me like your clutch is not releasing all the way. 1st gear will fight you the hardest when the clutch isn't disengaging.

This also is true. Maybe there is an air pocket in your clutch line. Bleed it a few times just for peace of mind.
Maybe you have a loose fitting or your slave or master cyl is bypassing.

It's in the master or slave cylinder. Either leaking, or has air in it. Or the nylon extension on the slave cylinder push rod is bad, broke, or gone.

I had the same trouble with mine but its a puegeot. But they use the same clutch components. It getting a new clutch and slave this weekend. but it could just be the fitting on the slave that came loose inside the bell housing. But The way to check if the salve is leaking is crack the bleeder and hook up a vacuum bleeder. click the handle 2 or 3 times you will here it suck air from the slave if it has a leak. If its not leaking it will build pressure and you will get a steady stream of fluid out of it. Plus side is it bleeds it at the same time.

If this is his 95, it's an external slave so he can unbolt it to determine if it's leaking.

I'm curious. What kind of free play do you have for the other gears? Say for 2nd, do you need to have it way on the floor, or does it seem to disengage higher/normally?

Brand new doesn't mean it actually works. And, like I said, is the nylon extension still intact on the slave push rod?

di you happen to lube/inspect the pilot bushing for the input shaft? if the bushing runs dry, or was damaged during install it can cause the input shaft to "drag". i have also see week diaprah "fingers" overfex, and drag on the torsion springs..mind you this was all on "other" non xj 's broken torsion springs also causing the friction disk to "deflect" causing drag(allowing the input shaft to spin while disengaged" on semi trucks, we cure that with a clutch brake.
