Not sure there is one. While I'm not familiar with the AX15 in particular, I do know 4th is a 1:1 ratio in that box and typically direct drive is derived by locking the input and output shafts together with a sleeve, the countershaft gearset is not in use.

So.. is there a problem with 4th gear? Curious what the underlying issue is.

Yes/no lol. Took the jeep to the tranny shop to be rebuilt as the syncros were going out. He said the only other part that was needed besides syncros/bearings/seals/etc on a normal rebuild was the 4th gear or something to that nature. I'll get better clarification when I get down there to pick it up in a half hr. just wanted a general idea before I went down there so i had some idea what he was talking about. Still not to bad....total rebuild+labor to remove/install along with labor to instal my new master n slave came to $1188.33.
