Does anyone know if 1984 and 1985 AX-5's had anything different from the other AX-5's that would make them specific to 84-85 only. I had some guy at a junkyard giving me this spiel about how it was gonna be hard for me to find one because there was something different about the 84-85's. He said it would be easier to replace my 2.5L with a V-8 than to replace my tranny, but I'm not buyin it. So again does anyone know, because I can get AX-5s for $200- $250 all day long around here. I'd do an AX-15 swap but I cant afford it right now and I need this thing running.

They mated up to different transfer cases in those two years if its 4wd, im not sure of the mounting pattern is different. 2wd they will be compatable regardless.
