Default Awful Noise

I have a stock 2001 Cherokee sport. On occasion when accelerating from a dead stop I get a loud noise that also vibrates. If i let off the gas and start accelerating again with less throttle it goes away. If i accelerate real gently or while already rolling I do not get the noise / vibration.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

What type of noise? Do you lose power? I have a kind of similar issue attributed to fuel delivery, and i just haven't gotten around to doing anything about it.

Boondocksaint, no real loss in power. It makes you take your foot off of the accelerator. Its a load noise with a bunch of vibration.

If it's a vibration only under load of acceleration, check all u-joints in front and rear driveshafts. You can remove front ds and drive it to see if you can narrow down. I just recently experienced similar and mine was u-joint in rear ds.

Also make sure your exhaust pipe isn't touching the crossmember.
