Do I have to unplug the tcm to do the manual shift test? Didn't know about unplugging it till I finally made it home and searched. Any Ideas or suggestions? 98 xj btw

Tried to post my whole story but after my wifes phone crashed twice after typing it all ,I figured I'd keep it short and sweet lol.

Turns out my cat was clogged.... Muffler system got bumped up in priority..... Time to search some more lol.
