Default AW4 transmission speed sensors

Hello,

Are they 2 transmission speed sensors on an AW4 for XJ 98 sport 2WD? I am assuming there is one input and one output speed sensor (blue plug on the driver side of the trans). One near the bellhousing, one above the Vehicle Speed Sensor?
If this is correct are they both (input and output) identical part numbers? i can't find any info on those in the Parts catalog or in the FSM.

Hopefully the picture I attached can be seen. Let me know.

Thank you.

'98 was the first year for two sensors.

There are two on the 2WD.

They're both the same part number.

Would you know how to test them? I can't find it on the FSM.

Also, any idea of the cost at the dealer? Doesn't seem to be able to find them online.
Thanks.

I wish I knew how to test them. I was going to measure the resistance in my spare but I can't find it.

The OEM part number is 4897734AA. The parts catalog calls them "Vehicle Speed Sensors", that's why most folks have a problem finding them.

Rockauto has them. Around $82. The dealer wants #161.

Not sure if this link will work. If not, go to Rockauto, Jeep Cherokee, Electrical. Look for Vehicle Speed Sensor.

Good luck.
