Default AW4 transmission not disengaging after changing rear leaf springs

1996 XJ 4.0 2WD Sport
I just changed my leaf springs and the automatic transmission is not disengaging like it used to when I take the foot off the accelerator. The leaf springs areCrown Automotive 4886186AA Leaf Spring Assembly

It shouldn't disengage unless it's in neutral or park.

Can you help provide more detail by what you mean by "disengaging"? Do you mean it is no longer free-wheeling when driving at speed and you release the accelerator? Such that you observe engine braking and the transmission draws your speed down quickly as the engine RPMs decrease?

If my description is what you mean, it might be helpful to know that the AW4 will freewheel in overdrive (D on the shifter) but will not free-wheel when in drive (3 on the shifter). Such that engine braking is -disabled- when using D on the shifter, and -enabled- when using 3 on the shifter. Would this detail of the AW4 transmission help describe what you are experiencing?
