I have been thinking about converting my 93 Cherokee sport from 2wd to 4wd. I can get every thing i need to do it but there is one thing that has been bothering me. When it comes to installing my transfer case i have herd that i simply cannot unbolt my 2wd transmission housing extension and bolt the transfer case on, after some research and looking at pictures on the internet it looks like i would need a different type of housing extension (im guessing it is for creating a gap for the cross member)

That really leads me to this question. Can an aw4 2wd be converted to an aw4 4wd? If so what do i need to do it? If not why?

Something interesting i found, the 2wd model trans has a different part number than a 4wd model trans.

After i get this question resolved i will make my final decision on whether to do the conversion or not. Any advise would be appreciated including on whether i should do it or not.
