I am getting very bad vibes when I am in last gear. The other gears work fine but I dont want to break down somewhere. I may need a new tranny so the questiong arises... What are the differences in AW4 Trannys? I have a 1989 4.0l Cherokee with the AW4 Tranny. Will any AW4 Tranny work or is there differences between my year and lets say a 96? Or any?

 

Have you check the other causes of vibrations.. If the Tranny is functioning normally, i would look eslewhere first. Look at tire balance, bearings, ujoints, shocks, Ignition, fuel, suspension, ect. there are minor differences. But all years should be swapable. It is an electronis tranny so you need the controler from the donor vehicle with the tranny.
