turned on the heat and it kicked right on.
now im stumped.
the way it works is you run the jeep the clutch fan isn't really doing anything it not even spinning at engine rpms as your engine heats up as the t-stat starts to open at 190 deg. the clutch starts to engage pulling more air across radiator as it gets hotter it spins harder and so on when it gets to the point where you may have an overheat situation the elec. fan is supposed to kick on to keep you before that point so you can get it somewhere off the road...thats the way i have seen it operate

i went to the jeep dealership today and picked up a mopar thermostat, its rated at 195 instead of 197 and has a weep hole. i wonder if this has been the problem all along.

still dunno bout the aux fan, sucker is supposed to kick on when youre at idle for a long period of time.

There is another temp sensor that threads into the thermostat housing. That sensor controls when the electric fan comes on due to temp. I replaced mine thinking it was the gauge sending unit. Depending on how far in or out it is installed sets the temp range that the fan turns on. Its all about how much of the element in the sensor is in the coolant flow path. Mechanic told me the same thing. If that got removed/adjusted/reinstalled during some of your work, then it has to be played with to set the temp range again. Mine now comes on at 200 degrees. It seems that the sensor has to be tuned each time it is replaced. There is no magic location ro thread count to go off of. Hope this helps

but you got to be very careful you dont tighten to moch the sensor is npt threads while the t-stat housing is not with npt you tighten until there is high resistance cause if you keep going it will just rip through the housing and use teflon tape

After you replaced it, did you set the temp for it? or did you just screw it in and plug the connecter in?

That was done at the sensor connector plug that goes to the relay with paper clip.

What we found out is the fan turned on and the relay kicked it so both are good.

Couple weeks later i bought and replaced coolant temp sensor the one located on the lower drivers side of radiator.

Still fan doesnt seem to kick on. Idk if your supposed to adjust the sensor

Good luck im stumped too

210 is operating temp
more heat is more power(mopar)
welcome to chrysler
if it wont ever go over 230 then no big deal.
if you want it to never go past 210 then buy a chevy(sorry)

how do you tune the sensor? i put one in a few years ago and didnt have to do that, that one was more than likely still good but replaced this onee because of chasing this heating/fan gremlin. and yes i just screwed it in and pluged it in.

i dont mind if the temp is a bit high, never was before though or in any other cherokee i owned, dead center at 210 was the norm, so for me this is a shock.

did get new plugs recently, could that be why its running slightly hotter or any yall think its cause the fan simply wont come on?

btw, i didnt see the need to jump the fan considering it comes on when i use the heat or AC, and kicks on on when you disconnect the connector to the coolant temp sensor.
