AutoTransmission - 96 Cherokee
Have a '96 Cherokee, 4.0L 6 Cyl
Experienced several instances while driving at highway speed the AT would seem to shift into neutral - or "almost" neutral, since a small degree of drive still seemed to be present. Pulling off to the side of the road, turning the engine off, and then restarting corrected the problem - till the next time.
I changed the transmission fluid - it needed changing badly - and this decreased the frequency of the above problem - but did not make it go alway completely.
Back-up lights are now not working.
Does this sound like a neutral safety switch issue for both problems?
Thanks for any comments.
