Hey guys apparently the laredo package cherokees came with a antenna that went up and down when you turned the ignition over? But yet I don't think mine came with one ? Only reason am asking is because the radio has power but nothing but static...and I think the antenna is broken and the only ones I can find online are the automatic ones that go and and down.

 

my laredo, of 1990 vintage has power antenna. it was as far as I reckon, stock. a non powered antenna can be used. perhaps your antenna is busted. if one of them rubber types, yes they can fail.

attach a temporary clothes hanger antenna to the antenna wire as a test to see if that improves things, if so, that points to a failed antenna.

 

take a gander at the radio. sometimes the plug can come out for the antenna connector that or they just installed the static antenna and never hooked it up
