2000 Cherokee, 4.0, Auto, 2WD. I've got this question posted in another thread, but it might be getting lost in with the other questions. My question is this; Has anyone ever heard of an auto shutdown feature when the engine overheats?

 

i found your other thread and answered there as well. i have never heard of this on any car. only heavy equipment with engine derate due to high coolant temp. the engine shutting off due to heat is from extreme friction. "heat expansion"

 

Thanks. I called the dealer and they said the the newer OBII systems have it, but probably not the 2000. I'm just having it towed up there and pay them to diagnosed it. Thanks again for the responses to my posts.
