Default Argghhh!!! Need Help Fast!

okay, so the other day i'm driving on the interstate, xj starts shimmying up front. pulled over to inspect find smoke billowing out from driver side brake rotor. limped home, got new caliper, rotor, pads, etc., got caliper off no problem, go to take rotor off and i hit a wall....

i'm a newb to jeeps, but not to turning wrenches, and for the life of me, i cannot get this dam spindle nut off to pull the rotor! i have tried heat, pb blaster, impact, 4 foot breaker bar, this thing will not budge! i have changed rotors dozens of times on other cars and have never come across one that is seized like this. anyone have any tips to help a brother out? i got a hot date tonight and i can't be taking her out in my work van, lol. any help appreciated. thanks in advance

troy

lol, like i said, i'm not new to turning wrenches. i have changed many rotors and never had a frozen spindle nut, which is the problem. i have never met a nut i could'nt break loose, but i have met my match here, just thought maybe since i'm new to 4x4's i might be missing something. spincle nuts are supposed to be hand tight, this one broke my 4 foot breaker bar!

you said 4x4. should just be a top hat rotor if memory serves me correctly.not to be a smart *** but it should just slide off the studs.try hitting the rotor (hard and quickly, lots of penetrant around the axel ring)between the studs(the bigger the hammer the better) see if the rotor comes loose. im pretty sure theyre a top hat rotor.

so the rotor should slide off the spindle without having to take the nut off the spindle? i thought that's what kept the rotor on. like i said i'm new to 4x4's, so don't worry about sounding like a smart ***. i feel like enough of an idiot already, lol. advice that helps me won't bother me even if it makes me feel even dumberer. i just want to get this stupid rotor off.

Keep in mind you said should slide off. Rusted may need the persuasion of a large hammer!
