riddle me this BatMan. i tried "shifting on the fly" the other day (maybe 25-28 mph on a gravel road (to allow the tires to spin at different speeds) and all it did was grind and snarle at me. then i did the normal. stop, Tranny N, shiftTcase, Tranny into gear and she popped right in?

Still got the vac disco? If it's slow to engage you can have that problem shifting on the fly.

i do have the vaccum engage. everything hooked up fine no leaks in the area. any chance the Vac Ball up front is part of this system? i know it does defrost and compressor actions. also 4x4 engagemnet actions?

Yes. This vacuum disco caused us such grief on snow days at the dealership that I've really become an advocate of eliminating it. The harnesses are 20 plus yars old now, as are the diaphragms in the shift motors. The forks may have bent if they were never upgraded etc.
