I saw that is says it will fit but I've read a lot were people said they had to grind and make dents in it to make it fit correctly. If I have to modify it, then I dot wanna buy it

Just not sure that I'll be able to go with the custom downpipe. I haven't had much luck finding a place near me to do it so I may end up with a Walker downpipe or something similar.
I ordered one from here:

Seems to be mainly on the 99s that some modification maybe needed on the manifold. Some have had to shave off a bit of the intake manifold for it to fit correctly, then others have not.

I will find out when my head is ready.

Ok....I'm picking up an intake manifold from a 99+ XJ this Fridy so If there is shaving, I'd wanna know about it before hand

I hope to be putting everything back in Thursday, at the latest Friday. I will let you know. Actually, I will go in the garage now and see how they line up on the bench.

I think it is going to hit. Seems like on the bench this is pretty much lined up. Number 1 on left and number 6 on right hit. I guess I will know for sure soon.

Second pic is number 1 third pic is number 6.

Number 1 looks easy enough. Its the support and not worried about taking off too much. Number 6 it hits the actual intake. How much did you have to take off? I guess I will have to do it little by little and not go to far and breach the intake.

A strategically placed hammer blow on the header might add enough clearance as well. I imagine any small dent isn't going to have an impact on performance, especially considering downstream curves, crimps and whatnot.

I don't think the front runners have any issues, at least not on mine. The header runner closest to the firewall is the one you might need to take a hammer to.

Ya...I have a 98 and was wanting to put an intake manifold from a 99+ and then install a new header and full 2.5" exhaust along with cowl intake and 703 injectors

Just got it all done tonight. The front runner took just a little grinding and then fit perfectly. There rear one, near the firewall, different story. I did some grinding, but I did not want to go too deep. Was not enough, I had to resort to the BFH and wacked the header tube a bit. Not that much, but a small indent and finally it cleared and went on flush.

As stated earlier, I don't think that little indent will affect much.

What I did not realize is those headers glow red at idle. I put on a reworked cylinder head along with the new header and they were glowing red after about 15 minutes of idling.

Was it idling right? Did you reset the computer? Did some googling and while it doesn't seem odd that they glow, they might glow because the engine is running lean. Just a thought.

Did you dry fit the manifold to the header to figure out where to grind/pound? I think I have my front runner fine, just not sure about how much to grind/pound the back one.
