Default anything that i need to look for?

so, ive decided to prep my jeep for a road trip to the east coast of canada. and picked up a few items that wanted to address before i go. I was wondering if you guys had any hints, tips or things that i need to watch for when im doing:

1. Rad, hoses, and thermostat
2. Transmission filter and fluid (and how do people feel about lucas trans products?)
3. Front and rear diffs + TC fluid service
4. Right and left upper and lower ball joints
5. Front sway bar bushings.

Any input would be great!

Check your suspension, exhaust, tire wear and pressure, engine tune up, battery and anything that might be leaking.

BTW I like lucas products. I haven't use the trans fluid additives but I have used the fuel, gear and engine oil additive and I can say they make some top notch products.

Well, I don't really know the state of maintenance on your rig, so yeah anything you can think of would be good. Me I know I would just need to, change the oil and get some gas and go.

all the things you have listed are very specific and straight forward tasks. I would say just to keep an eye out for leaks, cracks, and broken or missing parts.

  • While you are playing with the ball joints go ahead and replace those U joints. Might as well not do work twice. Also grease all the steering and other fittings.
  • The trans will thank you, keep a bottle or 2 of trans fluid on your trip just in case you need to top it off.
  • For the sway bar bushings if you go poly urethane make sure to grease them or they will squeak
  • The coolant system I assume you plan on flushing out the heater core and block passages while you are replacing the other stuff.

you should be good then. Have a safe trip and keep the shiny side up

mainly inspect tires (inflation and condition), windshield wipers, serpentine belt (pack a spare if you have one), and brakes.
a cell phone and car charger and a valid CAA membership is recommended.

and don't forget the camera, the east coast is sposed to be quite scenic.

have a safe trip.
