Anyone seen fault code 71 before?

Your sig says you have a 1997. You really need the full PXXXX code to best help you. Two digit codes are not as specific as the full codes.
The "key-on, key-off" technique won't give you the full code. Assuming you used this to get the 71.
You can only get the full codes by using a code reader or a scan tool. Some parts stores like Autozone will read them for free.
Get the full code or codes and post them here for comment.
