Same test can be used for the wheel bearings. Just have to see what has play ball joints, wheel bearings, or both of them. Pushing on the sides checks your tie rod ends and other steering joints. Its easier to do with 2 people, one person to shake and the other to pin point the movement.

are you stock or lifted? i have a 4/5" lift with 32x11.5 r15 and i have no rubbing needed no cutting and have no problems at all...
