Default Anyone know where I can find a weld in diff plug for Dana 35?

The rubber fill plug on my dana 35 needs to be replaced so I thought while I change out the diff fluid, maybe weld in a more permanent fill plug like in this pic...

It's not the plug I'm having a hard time finding, it's the nut with the threaded center...any idea on where to get this? Hardware store like Lowes? Autozone and Advance Auto don't have it or at least I couldn't find it.

eta: that pic is an alxe nut from a cv axle or similar, with a universal 3\8 drive drain plug.

Right, some of them do have the metal plug. Have you checked a JY for one? Granted some JY just stab a hole into them to drain them.

Also check speed shops - they usually have bungs like that (they're often aluminum, but can be readily brazed in place just as easily.)

If you're going to go to that sort of trouble, you might want to consider adding a 1/4" NPT bung as low as possible, and mounting a drain plug as well. It's something I've always wanted to do (I get tired of being doused with gear oil when I change the stuff...)
