Sorry dude, I was thinking about how to tell you it is very difficult deciphering what your problems are. From the 30,000 ft level you seem to have a cascade of failures that don't seem to get corrected before another difficult to decipher plea for help is posted. Don't give up on that XJ though.

Hold on while I go get Barbara Billingsly. I hear she speaks word salad as well. (reference to Airplane! for those younger, uneducated folks)
Translation - His headlight switch was dorked up and replaced, but unclear if the connector was damaged. Seems to depend on the flash-to-pass, which might mean a bad stalk switch or that maybe his low beams are burnt out. We need more concise info before proceeding, including what year.
