My has nothing from converter back sounds real good ,but neighbors don't like it lol. Sounds mean out wheelin. I don't notice the smell in my cab either

 

Mine is louder then the video posted!!! My gf said it sounds like a honda with a fart can.. haha.. But its def deeper then that.. Just way to loud for me tho.. Ill try and post a video of it before I fix it tonight..Itll def annoy my neighbors for sure... Plus its my hunting truck and I dont want the game to know Im coming when i start my jeep up

 

you know there are mufflers that flow alot better then stock and also is very very quite quiter then stock

 

I ran just a cat until it got clogged so I cut that off too...planning on getting a muffler soon would you guys suggest straight pipe to the muffler or pick up a cat somewhere?

I ran a 90* to side exit without a muffler. Was cool for a while but got really old... really fast. The drone was almost unbearable. Now I'm running a cherry bomb turbo muffler with side exit exhaust. Still sounds similar but a lot less quiet and a whole lot less drone.

 

I ran mine without a muffler for a while after I tore it off on a trail, it took a little longer to start.

 

I don't know all the scientific details, but if I had to venture a guess, it could be due to the absence of back pressure and a computer issue. Some mufflers can add hp and improve mpgs, so I suppose that it's possible that without a muffler your particular jeep's computer is trying to compensate for the loss of something and is therefore using more fuel. Cars are like people and can react differently to the same thing and that's why some people don't experience a loss in mileage. But, who knows? I could be wrong, but that's my best guess!

 

unless u are driving your jeep to your stand/blind then there shouldent be a prob i park and walk about a mile to my spot of course it at the back of a 300 acre farm but its all good

 

The backpressure issue was what I was thinking. Coincidentally today on my way to work I threw a code 51 so my o2 could of been causing this. Gotta love jeeps

 

Lol, yeah. Gotta love them! I don't know if they make them anymore, but back in the day they made a muffler that you could manually switch between open pipe and muffler... If you are wanting to keep the open sound from time to time.

 

They still make those ....exhaust cut outs its a y pipe caped at the bottom and you can undo the bottom cap and run it open...or run it closed and come out of the muffler

 

I got a super 40 I have to put on.. but it was getting ast last night and I just hacked off the stock muffler and left it at that. I need to get adapters for my muffler so I can put it on.. Im guessing the outlets are 2 1/2 and stock converter is 2 1/4. Only reason why Im running it like this.. Picking up the the adapters and a hanger today at the parts store!!

And for the hunting response.. i hunt my uncles farm and he has roosters, chickens all types of **** running around and if i were to go in their with that exhaust.. theyd go nuts.. And the deer bed up behind his house so.. gotts be quiet from the get go...

 

I have my muffler off as well after the cat. I gotta say sounds good at lower rpm but on the freeway at higher rpm it gets real loud in the cab I have to roll down the windows so I don't get a headache. lol

 

In Virginia it's illegal to run with no muffler.
