I just picked up a super 40.. and I dont have the time to go get echaust adapters to put the muffler on, So Im just running the cat and no muffler.. Sounds pretty badass like that, but I will be fixing it either tomm afternoon or saturday. I was just wonder if anyone else runs itlike this.. Will i damage anything or cause problems for running the echaust like this?? It actually shifts gears smoother and idle's better without the muffler.. any info would be great thanks... Again Im just going to need to run this for 2 days maximum.. is that 2 long???

my jeep is like that, just a straight pipe where the muffler used to be. i took mine off because i ripped the stock muff in half on some rocks. but to answer the question no it will not hurt anything, and yes it sounds sweet, just roll with it like that for a while. (i hate blowmasters...)

Well, the ex-State Inspector in me says that being just open at the cat may cause emissions to leak inside the passenger compartment (thus it wouldn't pass)... Probably not that much, but just the same it may be a good idea to keep some windows open for ventilation or buy a cheap elbow/turnout pipe from autozone/o'reilley's/Advance Autoparts and stick it in there so the exhaust goes out the side from under the Jeep. Who knows? You may not have any exhaust leaking inside! It's just a thought and a safety precaution. I'd like to see what that sounds like, though! Can you post a video of it?

And here in NJ , they do not do emissions anymore.. well except for vehicles 95 and older. 95 and newer they just plug a scan tool in and scan for malfunctions.. Plus mines good till next september!!

the 95 and newer is OBD II and is still an emissions test. The ASM where they stick the sensors up your tail pipe is the old emissions test because those cars came with OBD I. On 95 and older, you can have a check engine light on, and it can still pass if the emissions readings are low enough. On 95 and newer, check engine light is an automatic fail. However, the visual inspection verifies that the exhaust evacuates out from under the passenger compartment. But since you won't need inspection until next September, then you can do whatever you want until then! I used to do all sorts of stuff and switch it back for inspection time! I'm hugely in favor of that! Keep in mind, that I'm here in Texas.... the vehicle inspection laws may differ slightly in NJ.

I broke my exhaust on the trail and had to hacksaw it off after the cat in order to finish. I have yet to get it fixed and the noise isn't too bad. However, I noticed a big loss in mpg afterwards but I'm not sure if I can relate that to having no muffler. Can anybody comment on that?

I actually took a video of it when I ran without a muffler. I thought it sounded beastly but the drone is horrendous. Video below, just click the picture.
