Default anyone done the hack and tap?

is hack and tap as good as a real sye besides the fact that your still using a 27 spline output shaft.. heard lots of people use the method and have no issues and really wheel their jeeps unlike some people ...just curious if there anyone whos actually done it and what "they " thenk about it....

231. i can do it for 50 bux i have the tap, drill bits, front drive shaft with new joints all i need is the fixed yoke for it. just curious if its same as the common sye kit just little weaker because of the use of stock 27 spline output shaft.

hopefully someone that has done it and is hard on their jeep like me will chime in and let us know if theyve had ill effects or issues...not someone with a 5oo dollar sye and shaft tllin us its the only way to go and its weak and not worth it blah blah blah...lol i know its not best and not that strong but it helps to have opinion from someone whos done it ya know....

it must suck though to not have the option to go either way with the 242 i would do the hd sye but im broke...and will be for a while....haha

I havnt done it but ill still gonna give my .02........The only downside i see is that you have to cut some of the shaft off and you lose some splines. Other than that if it breaks or doesnt work right you can always spend a few $$ extra and get a PORC SYE kit. go for it!
