Daylight you can barely see them but at nite i have no problem with the white bulbs. As long as you can see the reflector when you shine a light on it your good. I went to the police station and asked the sheriff myself.

I also used the VHT Nightshades. X2 on an easy application, you can even vary the amount of "smoke" effect with the number of coats you use. Use fewer coats for a smoked look, and more coats for a blacker lens. The stuff dries flat though, so pick up a can of clearcoat too. Here's how mine turned out...

Not positive on the legality issue, but a cop has never even given my a second glance and the lights have been that way for many months now.

VHT FTW!

This is also what was told to me buy the local state patrol inspection station. I wanted clear LED taillights on my trailer and he told me color doesn't matter just has to have the red reflector....and must be red.

ON that paint issue. I know that the paint for spraying RC car bodies is specially made for plastic and comes is TONS of different collors. It is also in them little cans so you don't have to buy a large one just for the small project.

i like that but when i do my rear quarters black i think it would look awesome coming into a set of darker tails. I am gonna leave my reverse lights alone though just paint the red and orange?

I like Funkles best not very dark but just a little black ya know

has anybody looked into taking the light apart and completely removing the red and oranger? or is the plastic red and orange? i know on my old grand prix it was like a layer of paint on the inside i was able to get rid of and make "altezzas". and then used red and orange bulbs

those would be sweet with the LED light in it. I would like to do those in the future when my rig is trail only. Another wish list item.

Thanks bro, and yeah that hitch was WAY too low. I actually had to angle my exhaust tip lower down to clear it, so it has since gone away. I was tired of it dragging every time I exited a ditch or something like that...

I did the front side markers, but left the front turn signals clear. I do not recall exactly how many coats I used, but I didn't go too heavy. You can pretty much tell as you add coats how dark it will be, so when you think it's about as dark as you want it just run with that. I also added a clearcoat after the Nightshades dried though, and it's pretty much the same story as the paint, only add as much clearcoating as you wish, to get the finish you want. I wanted a semi-glossy finish, that still looked like it was plastic so I didn't go too heavy on it.

Here's how I did the front...
