My '01 is becoming as tempermental as my wife. A couple of days ago, I noticed that my rear light would come on and stay on when I hit the brakes. I could get them off by repressing the brake pedal and then physically lifting same with the top of my foot. Next day, dome and cargo lights stay on continuously. Pulled the bulbs so I don't drain the battery. Last night, rears come on spontaneously after truck has been sitting for twelve hours or so. What's up with that? Will be working on problems this weekend, and I was wondering if the two issues are related. Fuses okay, haven't look at light switch yet. Anybody encounter this? Thanks for the help.

I would suspect grounding issues. There are neumerous ground wires conected to chassis that may need to be refreshed. Not sure of the exact locations, but there is a diagram here somewhere.
edit; Here are grounding locations/descriptions https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/gre...4/#post2852884

This could be the brake lamp switch. You might try a new one, they're cheap enough.
Next day, dome and cargo lights stay on continuously. Pulled the bulbs so I don't drain the battery.
This could be the cargo bay lamp switch. With the cargo bay hatch open, cycle the cargo bay lamp switch on and off, leaving it off. Close the hatch and see if the dome and cargo bay lights stay off.

I really appreciate the suggestions. As the handle implies, this was my first Cherokee (I just bought a '98), so I know enough to know I don't know, and am sure the forum folks can help. Thanks again.
