Default any reason to change the INPUT shaft seal on a transfer case?

I have the transfer case (231j) out of my 2000 XJ, and while it's out I'm changing the output shaft seals. Any reason to change the input shaft seal? As in the one between the trans and T-case.

Jeep has 180k on it so all of this is original.

Thanks!

Thanks that's what I figured, I'm having a hard time finding a part# for one though.

From what I've looked up it's probably a transmission output shaft seal, like SKF #19622 or Timken #225005 but I can't find a definitive answer.

But they also list t-case input shaft seals, but I don't think that's the same thing.

Thanks for the help. At the time I didn't realize there were 2 seals, a trans output shaft seal and a transfer case input shaft seal.

In case anyone is also looking for part numbers, the trans output shaft seal (AW4) is National part# 225005. The transfer case input shaft seal (NP 231J) is National part# 3173. You can also get a newer design of this one, National part# 710928 which has a double lip seal instead of a single.
