I tried looking but can't find an answer. Regarding the pre-97 XJ, does anyone know how seat height compares between a power and manual seat? I'm looking for a way to lower the seat height in my XJ, and I have manual seats. I'm fat and tall and need room.

Considering a power seat swap but wasn't sure if all the motors and such overall increased height in the seat, even when adjusted all the way down.

I want to say that the power seat base in a '96 is the same as '97 and up.
I think the cut off is '95 down.
I have a buddy who just put a power seat in his '97, that did not come with them, and he used a '96 power seat base.
He emailed me a picture and it looks just like the bases in my '00 from a '99.
And I want to say that I sit higher with the power seat base then I did with the manual seat bases that were originally in there.
Not that any of this really answers your question. LOL.

 

I have '96s with both power and manual seats.

without actually measuring, the power seats (which are leather) are either the same or slightly "taller" than the manual versions (mine are cloth)

I personally find the simplicity of manual seats something I prefer

hardest thing is to find a drivers seat in good condition.

Been told it may be possible to swap a PS skin on to a DS seat, but the the cutout for movement levers might make that difficult
