This is going to be tricky. I cant really afford to do this but I have to in order to keep her running. I only a have a few days to pull the whole thing off. I really need a write up to help with it all. Not sure how hard of a job it is, but I've been told its a pain in the rear end...well more like front end haha

The write-up nismo5 referenced looks pretty good. I should have looked here before I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be; with someone helping, I spent about half a Saturday on it, which was time well spent & better than watching TV. I had time to replace a couple of tie-rod ends that were bad.
I didn't upgrade but found a good rebuilt gear box on Ebay. After an alignment the following week, it's nice & tight.

When I replaced my steering box the toughest part was getting the pitman arm off. The pitman puller I borrowed from autozone would not allow me to use a socket (or impact wrench) on the puller because of the bulb end where one would use a socket. The only choice was to use an open end wrench. With a Mapp gas torch to heat the pitman arm, a big ol hammer and some mighty tugs on the wrench she finally popped off with a bang!

I will wish you strength and good luck.
