Any ideas on better mpgs with my 4.0?!
I'm literally pulling my hair out at the pump with how bad my gas mileage is! I'm getting 13 city and 18 freeway... Bs! I see chip upgrades and All things in between about how to improve mpgs, any ideas guys? I'm driving a 97 xj, all new ignition, injectors, and I even cleaned out the throttle body... Nothing. Input please!

High flow intake filter by Spectre you can pic up at the auto parts store for around $29, proper tire inflation, high flow exhaust, and go easy on the skinny pedal.
If you are running anything bigger than 235/75 tires don't expect good gas mileage. I'm getting about 19-20mpg highway and I have everything I listed about. I also have #784 injectors and a 60mm throttle body.

The 4.0 is a gas pig, the non-disconnect front hubs swill gas... and so does the AW4. Put them in a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick sitting nearly a foot above the road and well....
The above-listed stuff helps and is about all that will help (provided your engine and sensors are operating correctly)... don't expect miracles.

When I was shopping for a new vehicle I knew that I could get a car that got good mileage or something 4x4. You don't really get to have both.

My '89 gets 18 city and around 24 highway if I drive mellow.
Proper maintenance, reducing weight as much as possible and easy on the skinny pedal. If you're lifted, make sure you're running the correct gears (and speedo gear). While this may sound counter intuitive, I've read about people improving their mileage by as much as 3 mpg by never allowing the tank to fall below the 1/2 way point. Several people reported the same results and some really smart people (smarter than me, for sure) theorized that it was because the larger quantity of fuel remained cooler and thus, produced a cooler fuel charge out of the injectors.
