Acetone w/fuel increase mileage ??
So i meet this guy today at the pump and he was adding Acetone to his fuel tank ,( 3oz per 10 gal )Says he gains 7-10 per gal. Has anyone done this and is it safe? If it matters ,He was driveing a 2010 Escalade.

It says it will work better in some engines more so than others. However... The highest yield is only 35%. In a vehicle that only gets 18 - 20 MPG, that's not a very large return...
However in a vehicle that gets higher gas mileage... This would benefit greatly. You can simply purchase another gallon of gas to take you an additional 18 - 20 miles, much cheaper than the cost of Acetone.

Googled the Author. This is what came up:

He pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly. Plus, when you google him, you don't wind up with the first two pages being articles about why he's wrong.

I tried it once in my Cj7. I think I added 6 ounces to my tank (15 gal) at the time I filled up. I drove the same 34 highway mile round trip to and from work until my next fill up. My tank lasted about a week.
Did it work...........not really. I didn't notice any change in mpg from the last fill up. But it was an inexpensive test so I didn't feel to let down.

the best way to hone any motor is slowly pour sand in the intake, it acts as an abrasive in the cylinder, if you do it right you can gain like 30hp, i know a guy that did it and now he can do wheelies in his mustang....
