So I have an 89 4.0 I6 to start off with. I noticed that if I move the TV cable back and forth that it likes to make my jeep idle so low that it dies. When hitting minor bumps, the jeep also likes to die. I'm guessing right now the two are related, and after doing some minor work to my jeep, I started it up, and moved the cable around to see if it was fixed, but no. Now I can't get it to start again.

Any Ideas?
Engine turns over, but won't fire.
FYI: the one going down towards the flywheel.

not sure what you mean by tv cable, but the one that's laying on the top of the valve cover looks like your CPS.
if that's the one your talking about, it may be grounding out. if that wire is bad, your jeep won't start.

look at where the zip tie end is pointing. It only happens when I shake it close to where the pic is taken. There is also some sort of breather connected to it I think just with a clamp

yeah, the tube with the plastic cap is a vent tube for either the tranny or the front diff.

but my buddy came by my place this morning with the exact same problem.
it is his crank positioning sensor plug. wiggle it, and the revs cut down and almost stalls. he said he can get it to stall. and it won't start up unless he wiggles the wire again.

ya if you dont have any signal or its going bad it wont throw a code or anything especially since your OBD1 and it will just stall out and stuff try gettin a new Crank pos sensor. Its incharge of everything for your timing basically and your jeep wont run at all if its bad

Well the PO had changed the dash, so I don't even know how to check the codes to start with. How much would this sensor cost, and how difficult is it to put in?

Caged I'm really happy to hear that someone is having the same problem. I thought it was some freak thing my jeep was doing. Could this be causing the car to die when going over bumps. My shocks are shot as it is, I need to get new ones, but is this what makes my car die also?
Thanks for the help BTW

Ummmm...
89--->Renix--->no codes.

Perhaps it is not the "cable" but something around it.

Default PROBLEM SOLVED

Alright so after some major head scratching and searching around, In the jumble of wires in that area were two grounds. They must have been making contact with something and when moving the cable and hitting bumps, losing contact. I just bolted them onto where the battery ground hooks onto the dipstick.
Pretty happy right now.

Thanks for you guidance.
