Default Another "What is this?" Question

I just recently took off my stock bumper to start on a winch bumper build and I found this oval shaped black plastic canister mounted on the inside of the bumper (passenger side). It only has one hose connecting it to anything which I traced back into the engine and it goes though the fire wall into the cab. Anyone who's smarter then me know what this is? The hose comes right off and the canister seems empty.

Sorry there are no pics I don't have a working camera right now.

Vacuum reservoir. Do a search for "Jeep Egg."

x2 if you take it off, your ac will default to defrost, warm, etc. it sucks. You can easily relocate it with no undesired consequences.

This is weird because before I even took off the bumper my AC/heater would keep switching between floor, front, and defrost vents. I had no idea what was going on. But when I took off the bumper I don't think there was anything wrong with the canister and it appeared to be hooked up right.

Any Idea why it would switch between vents like that?

Also when the engine is running and you have the AC/heater/vents on you can hear air coming out somewhere down by the front passenger side of the engine compartment. It sounds like compressed air trying to escape through a small opening. It's not real loud but is noticeable with the hood open. Is this normal or do I have a leak somewhere?
