Default Another question about brakes

I will be shopping for replacement brake parts in about a week and I'm not sure what to look for. This will be my first time ever doing brakes. It's a '99 XJ 2WD with ABS. I have been looking at something like this https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f10/br...s-ever-135231/ because of the price, but am not sure if it matters what I use for the rear brakes if I use these for the front.

I did a FULL break tune up for 400 bucks. No slotted rotors, nothin fancy.. I don't drive like vin diesel, so they've held up well.

Figured I'd give it a shot and do them myself. They are pretty rough right now, I don't trust my brakes and have stopped driving the XJ. Basically I am just trying to avoid $800 or more at the brake shop if I can while still getting as much as I can for my money.

If those prices are for the pair, that's pretty cheap.

I decided against the rotors I linked above. Think I'm just going to get everything through Napa. I'm currently trying to price everything. Please let me know if I missed anything.

Rotors, Drums, shoes, pads, Brake shoe hardware kit (maxi pack - rear).

And I have kind of a silly question regarding the Brake pads and shoes listed on their site. I would call the store, but it is after hours right now so figured I'd ask. Rear brake pads list as $29.25/ea, but it shows all 4 pads. Is that 29.25 for one brake pad or for all 4? http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Re...Category&Nao=0 It's the same with most of the brake shoes except for one shows just one shoe.

brake rotors from advance held up good 3 years so far. I like using the cheaper brake pads with less metal. keeps the rotors from wearing and they still work good in the rain only downfall is they wear alot quicker.

Can you push the jeep in neutral? if not the calipers might be sticking then I would get new ones Any wheel cylinder leaks? Cracked brake hoses? Dont forget the brake fluid. I did once

Thanks for the response.

No issues with the Calipers sticking. Vehicle will still move, just don't trust it to stop anymore, lol. I haven't had anything apart yet to inspect. Will take a look at it this weekend for leaks if it doesn't rain on me, thanks for the reminder.

Another thing I forgot to mention. The left front wheel when I turn sharp left seems to wobble. almost like the lug nuts are lose (they aren't have checked them). It is more noticeable on slow turns when going into parking spaces and such.

If the wheel wobbles, I'd check the bearings. It's real easy. Just jack up that wheel, grab the top and bottom and try to wiggle it in and out. If it moves, you need to replace the hub bearing unit. Or, getting deeper in to it, the ball joints. If you grab the sides and it wiggles left and right, probably the tie rod end.

that price is for one axle/4 pads. just stay clear of the true stop 1yr pads. they seriously suck. go with the safety stops if you shop at napa for pads. the true stop brake shoes work fine but go with a quality pad. (I work there)
