Another oil/coolant leak question

Coolant from this plug on drivers side of the block. Anyone know what this thing is called?

Oil from this deal. Thinking its the valve cover gasket leaking down to the spark plug area. Also oil all down around the rms area, but the motor was just rebuilt last year, so I think that was just replaced

1. Core plug
2. Valve cover gasket leaks like a sieve.

When I change the core plug, is there anything I need to do as far as sealing the threads on the new one?
