Default another ignition issue. but this one is different.

ok so i have an 94 xj i just bought today. so the ignition works great.starts and runs no problem. my problem is that when the vehicle is running i dont have any power to my ac, turn signals, or cig lighter. everything elseworks no problem. i can wiggle my key around and the stuff will start to work but its half way between "run" and "start" on the ignition switch. so it will not stay on. Basically i want to know if theres an easy fix for this, or a way to hardwire a switch so i can just flip it on for ignition. im mechanically inclined and an automotive tech so i know what im doing. just not to familiar with this problem. any help is appreciated. Ok so thanks for giving me a text book answer. Guess you didn't get the point where I know my way around a car. If something doesn't work you just don't replace the part that doesn't work, you trouble shoot it and make sure something isn't causing it like in my case. So any way. I figured out it's the connection on the ignition switch on top of the steering column. First question is how do you get the damn connectors out of it and the 2nd question is the blue connector has a purple wire. Well that's my problem the wire is loose but when I wiggle it and get everything to work the wire gets pretty damn hot. Anyone know what this wire is for?

It was the purple wire. Previous owner tapped into it for something since it's powered with ignition on. Any way the wire was over loaded. Burned the terminal at the ignition switch. Pulled the connection, cleaned it then removed the wire he tapped into it and boom problem solved.
