Default Another fuel pump thread. HELP

99' XJ 4.0 classic 150k

Really tryna diagnose my problem here before I go blowing money.

Yes I need to get a fuel pressure gauge on it, that will probably point me easily enough in the right direction but I don't have one handy so lemme list some symptoms real quick

Cold starts in the morning half a tank
If I crank it right away it won't start all the time and when it doesn't it kinda screams at me, no joke.

Otherwise I let it prime and it'll fire right up.

Tank will get low and lately I only let it, to try and trigger these symptoms.

Left turns will make it stall, steep inclines it'll chug and sputter and occasionally backfire... Beyond that it has no pep in its step...delay in acceleration and unless I back off the gas it'll stay going nowhere.

Should add it has a ex. manifold crack.

CPS is very new.
All new TB sensors. IAC is clean

If I go to replace the pump it'll be the whole assembly of course... I'd like to get carter. Is there anything short of the pump assembly I can change on a 99.
Thanks guys

Sounds like a New Carter Fuel Pump Module would be in order.

You may want to buy some replacement fuel tank J Bolts before you start. Not many survive removing them.

No recommendations on a replacement exhaust manifold.

yep sounds like fuel pump is shot, you should verify with a pressure test first

I’m having the same issues and Im clueless when it comes to my Jeep. How do I check the pressure before replacing entire fuel pump? I have all the symptoms you listed and no idea how or where to begin fixing it. Please help.

AutoZone and some other parts stores often rent or loan the pressure tester. It screws onto a fitting on the fuel rail. If you're unsure how to test the pressure, then replacing the fuel pump might be a challenge. Can you elaborate on your symptoms? Slow start but runs fine, loss of power, etc... The pump itself is only one possible cause, such as leaking injectors or plugged fuel filter.
