another dumb lift question
Hi there!
I just picked up a 1999 2 door xj
This will be my daily driver so I want it to ride as smooth as possible on the road.
I may do a little two track and off road for hunting.
The springs sag,so my plan is to replace them and lift it a little to accommadate 30-31" tires
How much lift do I need?
I was told that the 17" wheels from my 96 cobra will fit.
How muc.
Can I get by without modifications to anything else.
I would like to have enough money left to buy some Bushwacker Cut Out flares.
Thanks for any help

If you're planning on using cut out flares you can do a 2" budget boost and fit 31's no problem, and the Mustang wheels will bolt up, not sure about the backspacing though

For a lift to ride as smooth as possible, I would go with Old Man Emu. From what I hear and read no other lift kit rides as smooth, I have also never heard of any complaints about there products.

Look into Rubicon Express, BDS, or, I hate saying this, Rustys. Everyone seems to be happy with those lifts and my garage currently sell RE and BDS without any complaints.
Install for a lift should be no more than $350, anything 3" or less is not very hard or time consuming. If you were closer to jersey I would offer you a low price at my shop for a kit and install.

Check out this:

Or this:

Both are great.
Add a leaf wont work if your springs are already sagging

will a 2" lift would be enough for 31" tires
I am sorry to admit it but, this truck will be used 99% of the time commuting to and from work.

Hello again
with 2" or 3" lift, will I need to modify drive shaft or anything other than the lift kit?

With 2" of lift probably not, and with 3" you may. Every jeep is different though.
