My Daughters XJ was bent way worse than that after she hit a solid concrete pillar I took it to a good body shop and they pulled it straight.Cost me $400 but worth it to save her XJ.

When I did repairables (fix insurance salvage totalled vehicles) I fixed ALOT worse with full confidence in the vehicle so much so my girlfriend drives one I did. Bring it to private frame shops and they will not do the unrepairable bit on you (translated I the mechanic don't think you have any money and even if you did I don't feel like doing the job). Must be a low unemployment rate over there to turn work away lol.

I'm not sure, I'll give it a shot but it is highly probable that it will cost more than buying another XJ.

In December I hit the railing of an off-ramp, all I had was a bent fender and rear quarter panel (no unibody damage). The guy I talked to asked me for something like 1000€ ($1,300) saying it would be an easy fix... So imagine a bent unibody frame!!!

Lazy SOBs... but I will go out and ask around, trust me, I love this Cherokee more than anything else, my biggest fear is letting it go one day...

Also that diesel sounds awesome. Would love to hear that in my XJ

Anyways, that look pretty repairable. Is it just the one side? I would get another "estimate" from a better frame/body shop. The only thing I really see it effecting is the leaf spring mount.
By all means, enjoy! Haha!

I was devastated at first but a close friend started learning the (few) lines of monologue I spit out during the scene. The bastard cries of laughter each time he plays it back! That eases the pressure and somehow cheers you up!

I laugh of it too now, knowing that I'm still alive... the dog who was wondering by the tree too, thankfully...

Also yes this is only on one side, the damage on the left side is very very minor... This affects the leaf spring mount but the stock spring compensated so the XJ sits level. I am afraid that after the lift it will be tilted, however, until I fix it...

Btw didn't you make a thread about this already?
I won't! ;-)

Yes I did (Is my XJ saying no?) but that was the aftershock of not being able to install the lift because my alt seized up on the way to the garage where I was supposed to do it that very day. I started a thread to ask advice about what to do with my XJ and its many problems...

Most typical body shops only do minor frame work. Look for a shop that specializes in frame repair, you wouldn't believe what a good shop can do. Many of them in the US are listed as Frame and Axle repair and don't do any paint/body panel work. That's where the typical body shops take them for frame stretching and realignment.

Probably would be good to see a picture of the bumper and it's mount on that side. Also pull up the carpet and see if the floor is tweaked at all. Also, how is the gap around the hatch?

If the hatch gap is okay and the floor is flat, I would wrap a chain around that hitch and tie it to an unmoveable object and heat that part of the frame up with a torch (protecting the gas tank in the process though). Then with a few swift jerks and a BFH you should be able to get most of that kink out- enough that it won't matter. Exercise extreme caution, this isn't child's play.

for just cosmetic damage i usualy just bang it out with something from the inside and dont worry bout how it looks... not a frame or body expert but if its stuff like getting new fenders id just go to a junk yard and for a new 1 and wing it.

The damage is where the hitch bolts onto the frame, since the hitch got hit it bent the frame downwards (a typical accident, I saw it a couple times on rear-ended XJs).

I'll do my best but I won't be able to take another picture until Wednesday...

The bumper mount isn't tweaked as far as I know. I swapped the interiors of both my Cherokees a while back and of course I got a look at the floor in the process... there is a bump! It can be felt even with the carpet on. However, I saw no gap in the hatch. The liftgate does have difficulty opening and closing but I think this mostly has to do with the mangled rear bumper... I'll remove it and see if there is more damage behind it...

Well that's what I did about the fender, I straightened it out as best I could plus I trimmed the wheel wells so there is nearly no sign of damage up front. I didn't do anything about the rear... I'm over the cosmetic damage now!

Looks more wild and adventurous!
