Another Air Bag Light..Diagnosis?
Hi guys,
Sorry to start another thread on the subject but I found little information on diagnosing problems. Merely just a list of possible causes. I have a 99 XJ Sport
-I have an air bag light and NO CEL.
-I assume it's not the clock spring because my horn and cruise control both work.
-I'm guessing it's not the dash connector because there are no other dash issues. I also attempted smacking the dash to no avail.
-I checked the air bag fuses and they are all fine.
-My car received the recall relocation of the Air Bag module.
-I played with different positions of the key to see if it was a ignition issue but with no success.
-The previous owner did mention that he noticed it go off occasionally but I have yet to see it go off.
-I have had the battery disconnected to attempt to reset
Any tips on how to diagnose the system further would be really appreciated.

Don't rule out the clock spring. There are conductors for each item; i.e. Horn, c.c., air bag etc. It is possible only one conductor broke. If you are able, pull it and test each conductor for continuity or resistance. For every pin on the incoming connector, you should be able to find the corresponding output on the other side. Good luck!

I was told it was unlikely that just one connection would break. Anyway of testing this without pulling the steering wheel? Because at that point i'll just replace it anyway while I have it off...
