Default Anaerobic gasket maker

Ladies and Gents,

I did my rear main last week, and it is still leaking

I found a write up on here that said to use loctite 518 or chrysler anaeribic gasket maker on the bearing cap. I of course did not. I am assuming that is the source of my leak

This may be a stupid question, but when I do this again I dont want to screw it up. None of my parts stores around here have loctite 518, and I try to boycott the dealership as much as possible

My stores have permatex anaerobic gasket maker. Is it the same thing?? Is anaerobic gasket maker all the same?

I dont want to have this thing keep leaking

never heard of it. i have done many and not had any trouble. just make sure it is clean and dry when you apply the sealer.

what did you use to seal the rear bearing cap? The write up I read specifically quoted loctite 518, or chryslers version. My haynes just says to use an "anaerobic type sealant"

Just wanted to make sure there wasnt some type of high temp stuff or anything like that
